Not Just Another Day At The Office

Everybody at my work is on edge. Six lay-offs were announced this morning. Unfortunately, one of the six people didn't respond in a professional manner. He said that he wanted to kill somebody as he was escorted out of the building. Now all the doors will be locked at all times. My Company is going to hire a security guard for our floor in the building.

It doesn't help that we are so close to NIU-Dekalb, Illinois. If you don't know by now, there was a shooting in a lecture hall on campus last week. Five students were killed and many more are still in the hospital. I am very familiar with the campus since most of my friends and family went there for school.

Gun violence can happen anywhere including the workplace. In my opinion, most of the people here-yes mainly women.....are overreacting with their emotions. You should always react, but not overreact. We have to be aware of our surroundings but not live our lives in fear. Let's look at the laws. Why did the NIU shooter get four guns from the same gun dealer? Why are guns sold on the Internet? Needless to say, gun control is a hot issue.

Tomorrow will be a better day at the office.
