Junk Mail

Every year, 100 million trees are used to produce junk mail;
250,000 homes can be heated with one day’s supply of junk mail; and Americans receive almost 4 million tons of junk mail every year.

Before I go into the house every evening, I pick up the mail from the box. Just about every day, three quarters of the mail is junk-credit card and insurance offers, advertisements and DONATIONS!!

I’m going to “pick a bone” with the Humane Society of the United States. The last time my husband made a contribution was last December. Of course, it was to take advantage of the tax deduction at that time. We do care about our fury friends but we’re tired of the endless donation cards and gifts. Yesterday’s gift took up the whole space in the mailbox. They sent three Christmas gift bags along with tissue paper. We get umbrellas, shoulder bags, pens, calendars, stationery, key chains; return address labels-so much paper and postage waisted! I’m calling them today to try to stop this. This is ridiculous.

This will decrease the amount of pre-approved credit card offers.

Your name, address, and other contact information, as well as the type of product or service, is entered into a computer data base. The business that collected the information will use it to solicit more business from you. They might also rent their list to other businesses so they can send you advertisements. Lists are valuable, and renting lists is big business. Privacyrights.org
